Founded in 2011, Dharawal (previously Kamilaroi Group) has been providing heavy equipment and transport hire solutions to WA industry for more than 12 years.

Our mission is straightforward: to provide businesses in the mining and infrastructure sectors with the reliable equipment and personalised service you need to succeed, no matter the size or scope of your projects. Whether it’s a short-term lease or permanent hire, we can be the go-to resource for all your mining and infrastructure equipment needs.

After all, our team understands the challenges that your business faces, because we’ve been there ourselves. We’ve worked on sites all over WA, on the tools, so we understand the nuances and complexities of the jobs that you need to deliver.

To us, it’s all about ensuring your projects are a success, and providing the tools you need to get it done. If you succeed, we succeed; it’s as simple as that.

Now let’s get to work.

We Are Dharawal

Dharawal is a 100% Aboriginal-owned business, and our name, Dharawal, was chosen for its significant meaning.

Dharawal land is where our founder, Nathan Briggs, was born. It’s the land he grew up on, of which he’s a custodian. This name was chosen as a way to honour Nathan’s culture and heritage, to connect his business with the land that has special meaning to him, as a symbol that he can take pride in.

The Dharawal logo is made up of two important elements:

  • The circle of yellow represents the sun. The sun is the giver of life, the giver of hope, and the anchor that guides us wherever we go.
  • The feathers are those of the lyrebird, the traditional totem of the Dharawal people. These feathers are an enduring symbol of the importance of the area, and connects the business back to Nathan’s traditional land.

We’re Committed To Building Careers

We’re passionate about what we do here at Dharawal. And that includes supporting the growth of our people.

We’re committed to providing dedicated employment pathways across our organisation that work to improve social and economic opportunities for Aboriginal people. We achieve this by working with communities, industry bodies, and our clients to develop and provide comprehensive training, mentoring, and upskilling that prepares our candidates for work, and builds the skills and capabilities that set them on a rewarding career.

The Dharawal Difference

A Safety-First Culture

Safety isn’t just a tickbox for us. It’s something we live and breathe. We value the life and wellbeing of our people above everything else – everyone has the right to work in a safe environment and go home safe every day.

This is implemented by our leadership and management team, and reflected in the attitude of our employees. At Dharawal, everyone takes ownership and responsibility for our workplace health and safety. It’s a commitment that we extend to our contractors, clients, visitors, and anyone else involved with our operations, ensuring our safety policies aren’t just a piece of paper: we live them everyday.

Highly Skilled Operators

To deliver the best results, you need the best people. So we ensure that our team are the best at what they do. We invest in their training and upskilling to ensure our operators can manage their machines more efficiently, helping our clients to improve efficiency, limit downtime, and boost productivity.

Latest Machine Technology

Much like we invest in our people, we also invest in the technology that we use. Our machines are fitted with the latest technology to boost operator efficiency and comfort, ensuring improved safety, higher morale, and better efficiency—essentially, help you get more done with less labour.

Highest Quality Equipment

We choose to use top-quality equipment powered by the best names in the business, brands that are trusted to deliver more power, more reliability, and longer-lasting efficiency. We invest in the latest model vehicles, and update our equipment at regular intervals to ensure that we continue to deliver solutions that we know will get the job done.

Strict Maintenance & Servicing

Having trusted industry brand name equipment is one thing, but reliability is one of the most important factors that contribute to a seamless operation and successful project outcomes. To achieve this, our equipment undergoes regular scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance. And, as a licensed repairer, we carry out most of our repairs and maintenance in-house. This ensures we can guarantee our services are undertaken to a high standard, and gives us the flexibility and agility to respond to any issues that may arise on site, day or night.

Low Emission Engines

Getting the best outcome for the environment actually delivers the best outcome for your business. We choose vehicles with low-emission engines. Low emission engines are more fuel efficient, meaning you save money on consumables. They generate fewer CO2 emissions, contributing to a more sustainable fleet, and increased ESG efforts. And they create less noise pollution, which means a happier community surrounding your projects.

Inclusive Culture

Being a 100% Aboriginal-owned business, we’re passionate about creating employment and career progression opportunities for both Aboriginal people and women in the mining, construction, and transport industries.

We’ve instituted a career training funnel that provides comprehensive training opportunities and upskilling for people genuinely willing to learn, who want to take an active part in building a successful career on their own terms.
